We are a group of biking fanatics that love to ride, and we think we should give something back to our sport.
It’s a few months late but we received Marin’s much-anticipated Wolf Ridge trail bike recently. We’ve ridden it at Marin’s product launch and it does what they say it does: pedals incredibly well despite have 6 inches of travel. Marin markets this bike as the “One Bike” that can do everything…of course we’re talking MTB bikes here…the idea being it has Enduro bike travel and geometry but XC levels of pedaling efficiency. I’d say it manages that very well but with a caveat; it has trail bike rather than XC bike weight. That only follows given the burlier wheels, rubber, and other components that allow it to handle the gnarly stuff. Marin uses the new Nail’d R3ACT – 2 Play suspension system–a mouthful for sure–but it is striking how efficient it is.
Marin has also put a lot of work into the fit and geometry. With research from a biometric study they were able to develop sizing that puts the rider in the optimum position for balance, power transfer and comfort. That sounded like marketing to me but when I rode the bike it did feel “right” so I think the are on to something here.
