For bike shops, especially up north in Edmonton, winter is the time to get ready for the busy Spring season. For us this year this is doubly true. With renos, new computers and a new website our “off-season” is definitely “on.”
We are always trying to improve the flow inside the Shop as well as make it look more inviting for customers. The goal is to make a space where people would be happy to hang out and visit with their friends. This year we did a major re-shuffle of the displays and merchandising and we think it works a lot better. Come by and let us know what you think of the new look.
And because we are gluttons for punishment, we also made the decision this Fall to implement a new Point of Sale System. For anyone who has had to install a new computer system for a business you know it basically involves paying a lot of money for the privilege of giving yourself a ton of extra work. Despite the pain and suffering involved in wrangling hardware and software we believe this new system is far superior to the one we currently have. It has a ton of bike-specific features and will allow us to provide better service to our customers.
Lastly, if you are reading this then you will be seeing the results of a third winter project…a new website. We think it looks and works way better. Right now we are keeping it simple but our plan is to build onto it in the future such as adding a webstore. That’s probably a next-winter project…baby steps here, baby steps:).
So all-in-all there’s lots going on at the Shop this winter. Come the busy Spring season we plan to be much more dialled.
