Hometown: Kamloops, BC – A.K.A. Mountain Biking
Capital of Canada
Fave
Food(s): Remedy wraps! IÕm also a huge fan of the occassional tenderloin steak
and loaded baked potato.
Interests
other than cycling: I dabble with running and last year made my debut into
triathlon. IÕm a keen backpacker when, if ever, I take a weekend away from
cycling. My family has turned me into a boardgamer, IÕm a big fan of Settlers
of Catan and Bohnanza.
Favorite
place/trail to ride: As a non-native Edmontonian I am impressed with the
incredibly fine city riding. However, I do love to escape to Jasper and Canmore!
Occupation:
Environmental Planner but IÕd be happy to give it up to become a professional
cyclist!
Occupation
pertaining to Hardcore: XC mountain biking and cyclocross. Technical
singletrack specialist. IÕm not known for my cardiovascular fitness; I blame it
on my roots (Kamloops).
5
words my friends use to describe me: IÕm pretty sure there are only two words
Òbike fanaticÓ. IÕd like to think that they also call me a Òwell-rounded
individualÓ.
Claim
to fame: Who said I was famous?
Why
I race: I love it. I love good, healthy, friendly competition. Competition
keeps me fit and keeps me engaged in training. I love improving, which only
comes with MORE riding. That brings me back to why IÕd love to quit my jobÉ I
hope my employer doesnÕt read this!
Your
weapon of choice for the 2010 season, in detail: It looks like it will be the
2009 Team Marin XT. ItÕs stock except for an Easton Monkey Lite SL bar, EC70 seatpost
(long legs = longer post) and, more importantly, the sweetest wheelset youÕll
ever see—let me introduce to you the Iindustry Nine (I9) Ultralite Race (http://www.industrynine.net/Ultralite_Race).
Stiff, wickedly quick engagement, fast, fast, fast and HOT. Be warned that
these have a 165 lb rider weight limit! Side effects may include rapid
improvement, which you will then attribute to your awesome training plan. IÕll
be honest, it was the wheels (and superlight hardtail). J
