Our members range in age from early teens to early fifties, and abilities from novice to competitive elite racers.

Rides

Some of us ride all year and some of us only like the feeling of dirt under the wheels. Here is a list of our organized club rides. These rides usually start as soon as the trails are good shape, say mid April and run until the snow flies.

Mondays Social XC trail ride. Easy pace, single track, double track, some technical bits with easier options. Basically we ride as a group have fun and build skills. Usually we head out for 1-2 hours.
Wednesdays Faster Paced XC Training ride. If you are a hammerhead or want to get faster and push your limits this is the ride for you. We hit up the bountiful buffet of Edmonton single track and choose the tough trails. We take fewer breaks and ride for a longer period of time than on Mondays. We usually ride for 2-3 hours.
Saturday-Sunday

Interclub Road Rides-Spring 3-4 hrs.

Race Days-Spring-Fall

Winter Rides-Late Fall to Late Winter, depending on the trails.

Some people like to ride more some people like to ride less. Find a ride that fits for you and come on out. There are more rides than listed above but they usually involve smaller groups and depend on how people are feeling. The best place to keep track of other rides is the Forum or your email if you are a club member.

Club News

May 9 2010

Well it has been a while since we last brought you some news.  Quite a bit has gone on so here is a recap to bring you all up to speed.
March consisted of relatively mild weather so some good training rides were had.  Mike, Steve, Andre, John, Todd and Mark took a trip to Saint George, Moab and Fruita.  Good times all round with lots of great rides, food and some good scenery.  Steve has kept his blog running and has a good recap of the trip here If you want to see some pics have a look here.   There are also a few vids of some of the trails here.
April brought even nicer weather and an early start to club rides.  We had some great turnouts for Mondays and Wednesdays.  If you have not been out on a Monday ride yet here is what you are missing.  We also hosted the first of three  spring races which, happened to fall during a beautiful bit of weather so conditions were ideal and turnout was great.  Racers represented the club well in all the races.
We not only race XC, DH and Cross but Road as well and HC was well represented at the first road event of the year.  Jon B raced cat ½ in ERTC colours for this event and rode admirably but had some bad luck, even though he was wearing his lucky HC green socks.  In cat 3 Peter K was 9th in the GC.  In Cat 4 3rd and 7th in GC were Josh Krabbe and John Clarke respectively.
May started with more of the same in terms of Monday rides including great turnout that turned into a mud fest.  The next day a huge snowstorm stopped riding for a few days but good ole Alberta sun and wind sorted out that snow.  On Friday a few members of the race team made the pilgrimage to Lethbridge to race the first XC cup race of the year.  The Coulee Cruiser is a tough race in, out and around the coulees of Lethbridge.  With a shortened course due to bad course conditions racers had to do a lot of climbing on the tight and sidehilly course.  In the end Hardcore was very successful with John C winning Sport, Jon B winning expert with Peter in 5th and Mike B claimed 2nd in Elite.   Here is Peter’s take on the race.

John C lookin fresh after the win in sport.

Jon B captured 1st in Expert Men.

Mike B 2nd in Elite.

Stay tuned for more reports.
